Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Part 1

So far in this book we have met Rick Deckard and his wife Iran. Rick is a bounty hunter for the police department that hunts down androids. While his wife stays at home and is so depressed about her life that she sets her mood setter to depressed when she could set it to being happy and thankful. So far though Iran has not played much of a significant role in the book. Deckard has thrown me through a few loops thus far in this story. When he was first sent to Seattle to confer with the Rosen Corporation about the Nexus 6 units I was surprised by what happened. Finding out that Rachael Rosen was an android and being black mailed by the entire corporation seemed almost pointless, but surprising. The reason I find it pointless, as of now, is that if they did not allow Rachael to test then she never would have been discovered as an android. They had units lined up to be tested, so they never would have had to deal with the thought that she could be retired. I know that they tried to blackmail Rick by saying she was human, which would have voided the test completely, but Rick deduced that she was indeed a android.

This sent Rick on more hunts where he was almost killed. But then he was arrested. This was by far the biggest twist of the book so far. There were several times during Rick's arrest that I believed he had imagined the entire thing and that he was an android himself. Then to find out that the androids may be much more powerful and abundant than he believed makes me very excited for the second half of the book.

Another character in the book, I am still not entirely sure what his role is yet, is John Isidore. He is a special that has been forced to stay on Earth because the dust has effected him too greatly. He works for a android pet shop that cares for robotic animals. As of now we know that he is not able to distinguish the difference between real and fake animals, because he killed a live cat thinking it was a robot. He will play a bigger role throughout the book I believe because we left him a cliff, just hanging there.
